Location & Overview
Approximately 9 kilometres south-east of the Sydney CBD is the quaint family friendly suburb of Hillsdale.
Traditional & History
Originally part of the neighbouring suburb Matraville until the 1960s, the suburb was split between Botany and Randwick Councils. Botany Council decided to rename its portion to honour Patrick Darcy Hills, who was the former Deputy Premier of New South Wales. Many homes were built in Hillsdale after World War II including some by the Housing Commission.

Hillsdale is primarily characterized by an abundance of redbrick units and apartments from the 1960s, with new development blocks and detached homes following closely as alternative housing options. The demographic is predominantly made up of young families and retirees.
