Location & Overview

Situated just 7 kilometres east of the CBD and a short distance from the golden sands of the popular eastern beaches, lies the charming suburb of Waverley, home to some of the most renowned education facilities in the eastern suburbs.

Traditional & History

The suburb is named after the house of Barnett Levey (1798-1837), who named it after his favourite book by Sir Walter Scott. Situated on the highest point of Sydney's eastern suburbs, it gave its name to the surrounding municipality.

Housing

Known for its attractive tree-lined streets, Waverley comprises mostly of residential flat Buildings and manor homes, with these two categories making up the majority of dwelling types. Most households within the suburb are primarily occupied by professional couples and families.

Recreation and Amenities

Waverley is encompassed by some of the state's most exquisite parklands, including Queens, Moore, and Centennial Park. Waverley Council actively provides a variety of arts and cultural opportunities to enrich and bolster the creative endeavors of its community. The Waverley Art Prize, initiated in 1986, is a local painting competition specifically designed for the local community and early to mid-career artists.

Lorraine's, located on level one of the iconic Robin Hood Hotel is French inspired bistro is perfect for enjoying sun drenched afternoons and evenings with a glass atrium room to enjoy outstanding natural sunlight whilst enjoying some of the finest drinks and dining in Waverley.
An original favourite in the suburb is Bronte Road Bistro, which has consistently provided delicious food and personal service to its diners for over 16 years. The menu is based on traditional techniques with an emphasis on depth of flavour and chef/owner, Matthew Barnett shies away from fancy plating and focuses on quality ingredients with classic combinations of flavour.
